Peter Singer on Poverty
The philosopher Peter Singer claims that anyone earning above 30,000 dollars per year has a moral obligation to help the poor. In his argument, SInger is talking about the absolute poor, i.e. those for whom income would provide the basic needs of life. ABC Radio International interviews Singer about his moral imperative to help those in need. Singer argues that, if we were to encounter a child in person who needs food to live, then each of us would gladly provide enough for that child to live another. However, when that child lives across the globe, then our willingness to give diminishes. He says that these obligations, however, are morally equivalent. I cannot find a good argument against it (link to radio program).

Singer is definitely right on this one. The rich don't deserve their money!
